If you are involved with a property that is part of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), we can help value the property in its current, past, or future situation.
The CRP is a program managed by the USDA that essentially creates a lease (typically 10 years) on a piece of former agriculture land. In exchange for receiving compensation over the term of the contract, the property owner must maintain the property in a manner consistent with the preservation program established. The extent of conservation and type of plant species allowed varies by region. Since it is heavily conservation-based, it is usually centered around restoring the land to what is native and natural to the immediate area.
CRP appraisal requires knowledge of agricultural land pricing and general commercial land valuation methodology. CRP properties can be more complicated than standard appraisals depending on the unique situation of the land. It is important that you select an appraiser with substantial land appraisal experience, such as our firm.
